For travelers who want to experience more than just a superficial hotel stay, this Balinese colonial cottage style country home - privately owned by a Western/Indonesian family - is a rare treat.
The house sits on a large, lush, secluded garden property facing pristine green rice fields in the traditional farming village of Abangan, 10 minutes north Ubud center.
The house includes a large outdoor veranda surrounded on 2 sides by koi ponds, a separate fully equipped kitchen, a large terazo hot water bathtub in an open air bathroom, 3 bedrooms on the second floor; two rooms include double size antique Maduranese teakwood beds.
The third bedroom has one single bed and a single size loft style bed - great for young kids. The third floor offers a comfortable space with amazing views to read, nap, do yoga, or watch cable tv.
Wood floors and woven bamboo walls throughout the second and third floors keep the house amazingly cool both day and night.
The house is staffed with the family’s long time housekeeper Ketut who offers daily house cleaning and laundry services.
Missy the family dog helps with security detail and Georgie Scooter the cat makes sure everyone gets their fair share of cuddles each morning.
